In recent IBM Thinkpad systems, there is a limit to allowed miniPCI wireless cards. When an unauthorized card is plugged in, the system doesn't boot and halts with an error message like:
ERROR
1802:
Unauthorized network card is plugged in
Power
off and remove the miniPCI network card.
It requires copying a small file that will remove that bit in the BIOS. You'll copy the file no_1802.com to a floppy. You'll need to boot from a DOS diskette such as a W-98 boot floppy. Insert the created file into the A: drive and run the command. Reboot normally. I've used this file on a T-30 and an R-40. Works perfectly.
Now.
I make no claim to the acceptability on any specific ThinkPad. This file will work on older IBM ThinkPads, but may not work on newer machines. Use this file at your own risk. But, as I stated above, it worked perfectly on my T-30 and R-40.
